Clarity Speech Therapy offers home-based speech and language therapy personalized to your child’s specific needs. Our lessons are fun for kids, using board games, word games, and movement activities such as scavenger hunts to keep your child engaged while we work on their speech goals. * We work with children ages 3-18. * Our service area includes Cambridge, Arlington, Medford, Somerville, and Belmont. Services will be provided in a setting that is comfortable for you and your child, such as your home or yard, a library, a park, or other community settings. We believe in a collaborative approach that includes the parents’ priorities and welcomes parental engagement in the treatment.
. We specialize in the treatment of articulation & phonological disorders. These occur when a child distorts or substitutes easier speech sounds like “W” for harder-to-produce sounds like “R” (e.g. “wacing caw” instead of “racing car”). This is a normal part of a child’s language development but it becomes more problematic if it persists into kindergarten and beyond. We will help your child overcome even the most persistent speech sound difficulties with fun, individualized speech activities and games. Clarity Speech Therapy also works with children struggling with expressive and receptive language, including vocabulary, grammar, syntax, reading comprehension, and expressive writing,. We rely on fun, evidence-based activities that will help your child build meaningful, grammatical sentences from the ground up. With these sentence-level building blocks in place, we will then work on helping them express their ideas in well-formed paragraphs and essays. David Barnes, M.S., CCC-SLP
